Job Overview
As we continue to expand our global footprint across five continents, we are seeking a highly tactical and commercially sharp Head of Export Import (EXIM) to lead our international trade and supply chain operations.
Positioned strategically between the Supervisor and Manager levels, you will act as the key tactical decision-maker driving our global logistics efficiency. In this role, you will shift from purely managing daily paperwork to spearheading high-level logistics cost optimization, solving complex customs bottlenecks, and leading vendor negotiations. You will be responsible for validating compliance across all shipping activities while mentoring a dedicated team of EXIM supervisors and staff to support our large-scale global export demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics Cost Optimization: Evaluate, select, and negotiate high-level long-term contracts (Annual Rate Contracts) with shipping lines, freight forwarders, EMKL, and PPJK to secure optimal pricing and service efficiency.
- Operational Oversight & Final Validation: Provide final supervisorial sign-off on the accuracy of crucial shipping documents (Invoices, Packing Lists, Bill of Lading, COO) and oversee shipping schedules to align perfectly with factory production and sales timelines.
- Customs & Risk Management: Monitor and secure all processes within the INSW and CEISA (PEB/PIB) systems. Proactively design risk-mitigation strategies to prevent customs delays, red-channel issues, and unnecessary demurrage or detention fees.
- Compliance & Government Relations: Act as the primary escalation point and official representative for the company during customs audits, quarantine inspections, or regulatory inquiries with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Trade, and related government bodies.
- Global Standards Maintenance: Ensure all outbound shipments strictly adhere to international wood-legality and sustainability standards, specifically tracking SVLK, V-Legal, and FSC certifications.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, manage, and evaluate the performance of EXIM Supervisors and Staff, building their technical capabilities regarding updated international trade laws.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Mindset:
- Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Logistics, International Trade, Customs/Kepabeanan, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Export-Import operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (highly preferred within the furniture manufacturing or wood-based industry).
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset: Able to step in as a technical troubleshooter when handling critical custom bottlenecks.
- Strong leadership qualities with a proven track record of managing and upskilling operational teams.
Technical Skills:
- Core Trade Knowledge: Expert understanding of advanced customs clearance procedures, Incoterms, HS Code classification, tariff structures, and payment methods (L/C, T/T).
- Systems Proficiency: Deep hands-on experience navigating the CEISA and INSW platforms, as well as working with enterprise resource planning systems (experience with Odoo ERP is a significant plus).
- Industry Compliance: Solid familiarity with Indonesian wood legality regulations (SVLK) and global forestry certifications (FSC).
- Documentation & Tools: Advanced proficiency in managing digital and physical filing systems, alongside standard Google Workspace / Microsoft Office tools.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional negotiation skills to secure competitive rates with international shipping lines and forwarders.
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making capabilities under tight shipping deadlines.
- Excellent command of English (both written and verbal) to effectively coordinate with global clients and international stakeholders.
